Tera Analysis Ltd has released a new version 6.0 of the popular multiphysical FEA analysis tool QuickField. QuickField 6.0 introduces new type of analysis – 3D extrusion electrostatics. 3D features are seamlessly integrated with previously existent 2D functionality at the same level of convenience, simplicity and speed which QuickField users have become accustomed to.

QuickField 6.0 works as a standalone package which requires no other tools for the model creation, solving and result analysis. Free Student edition shares the same user interface, file formats and set of analysis options as the powerful commercial Professional edition. This gives unique possibility of sharing the solved 2D or 3D models with those who do not have a Professional license – any QuickField simulation results may be fully inspected using the free Student edition.

Main new features of QuickField 6.0 are:

3D Analysis Formulation
• 3D Electrostatic analysis with piecewise constant isotropic electric permittivity varying by bodies
• Field sources include electric charge or charge density defined in any type of geometric entities: bodies, faces, edges, or vertices
• Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions can be applied to any of faces, edges, or vertices

3D Preprocessing
• Automatic conversion of any existent 2D plane-parallel electrostatic model into corresponding 3D model (all planar objects will be attributed by the model depth set ting of the 2D problem)
• 3D geometric model creation by a fixed-depth cross-sectional multilayer extrusion of a 2D model
• 3D View mode in the Postprocessor
• Automatic 3D mesh generation controlled by mesh spacing values defined on a set of vertices
• Properties and boundary conditions set by assigning labels to any geometric entity

3D Postprocessing
• Color maps of selected physical quantities in full 3D view, on the arbitrary cross section or on the slices
• Local value display with robust picking capability
• X-Y plots along the chosen edges
• Vector plots in 3D view
• Isolines on an arbitrary cross section
• Integral quantities over the volumes

QuickField 6.0 conforms to the regular terms of QuickField software distribution and is released in Professional, Lite, and Student editions. The Lite and Professional editions are provided to customers under the maintenance contract as a free update. Student edition is distributed as a freeware.
